There’s a new way to get around in Silver Lake – Metro Bike Share just installed its 200th station at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Silver Lake Boulevard. Metro launched its first Metro Bike Share station at Union Station in July 2016, and it is still one of our busiest locations. The new station in Silver Lake allows Metro Bike Share users to travel to and from Silver Lake from other bike share locations in Central L.A. including Koreatown, East Hollywood and more. Not only is Metro Bike Share good for the environment, it’s good for your pocketbook too! Unlocking an electric Metro Bike costs $1 and it’s $1.75 per 30-minute ride, and classic bikes cost $1.75 per 30-minute ride. A similar ride will cost you $8.80 on an Uber or Lyft bike or scooter and $12.70 on a Bird scooter.

Since launching in 2016 we’ve learned a few things:
- People love electric bikes – they make up 10% of our total fleet but get the most rides per bike. Because of this great ridership, Metro continues to add electric bikes to the fleet.
- We’re getting people out of their cars – 57% of bike share trips would’ve been taken by car.
- Bike Share helps connect people to other Metro services – our most popular stations are close to Metro Bus and Rail lines. In fact, over 50% of our riders use the service to complete the first and last mile of their journey to and from rail.
